Witchetty grubs are eaten as part of the traditional bush tucker diet. They can be found in the roots and trunks of some trees like Ngalkirra, Mulurrpa and Snappy Gum tree. They are hunted with digging sticks and collected in coolamons. Witchetty grubs can be eaten raw or briefly cooked on the coals of a fire giving them a nutty flavour. Witchetty grubs are also given to babies who are malnourished as they are high of protein.
